I have been working as a direct care giver for 10 years. I have recently got involved on the culture change Team at our facility and have found the whole thing quite a challenge. I am about to attend the second learning session and am really looking forward to hearing one of the speakers on the agenda.(Steve Shields) I have taken it upon myself to present to our cna staff a powerpoint presentation to intro them to the an organization for CNA's. I am hoping that this organization will help us promote the wonderful work we do not just in our facillity but the community as well. Maybe if we let everyone know what it is we do, We can boost community confidence as well as staff confidence.
Turnover has always been a problem in long term care, so I am hoping that with this introduction we can start to turn it around. Giving the CNA's at our facillity a Group all of their own may be Just what we need. This group can help with education materials as well as awards groups for the stayers in the feild. I Hope this brings a Brighter Future for the career CNA's like Me. I am proud to be a career CNA.
